How to get the very best from your 1st Birthday Photoshoot.
A Guide to your photoshoot
Please follow this guide as much or as little as you would like…. it is designed to help you prepare for your photoshoot with information like:
What to expect
What to wear
How to prepare
After the session
What to expect:
When you arrive to the studio you will be welcomed with tea, coffee or a soft drink. there is space for you to sit, hang your coat and leave your bags.
It will be a relaxed and slow start to the photoshoot allowing for your child to take in a new place. its important the your feel relaxed so they can see they are in a safe and relaxed space too.
The studio is modern and cozy with light colours and minimal props so the focus is all on your little one. I will have some music playing so feel free to let me know what they like to listen too…..
What to wear.
If you have your heart set on a special outfit then please bring it along…. there will be time for a few outfit changes so if you are undecided then we can mix it up.
My recommendations for bringing or buying your own outfits are:
Try to keep it plain and simple…. the focus should be on your child, not the character or writing on the front.
Different textures and layers will look great and add variety to your gallery. You can use knitted, lace, frills or fluff.
Whilst I would encourage natural colours, you might want to add a pop of colour. Go for it. Let me know and I can incorporate the same colour in the theme of the session too.
If all that sounds too much then I have a selection of clothing for you to borrow. All neutral colours and all with textures that will look beautiful. Bring your child in their normal clothes and you can choose an outfit when you arrive.
If you, or older siblings are going to be in a few photos.
To really mark the 1st year I include a family photo in with the cake smash sessions.
Dress yourself and any siblings based on the above advice. I do have a client wardrobe of children’s clothing so please let me know if you would like to borrow additional items and I can let you know if I have the correct size available.

How to prepare Your little One
Being prepared will take the stress of getting a one year old ready for their photoshoot in the morning when there are 100 other things to do! Here are my tips on will help towards a relax start to the day.
Have we planed around their normal nap time? You know your baby best and if they are grumpy before or after nap times then let’s plan the session for their happiest hour of the day. I can normally be very flexible so please just drop me an email and we can adjust.
Don’t do anything “unusual or tiring”before the session. Photoshoots can be overstimulating for some so please keep this in mind. Here are a few things to avoid ( from experience of having tired babies here for their photoshoots): Swimming lessons, a night at grandparents, a baby class or a playdate.
If you are bringing your own, try on their outfit a few days before so you know it fit’s or that they don’t hate it!
Lastly bring a few of their favourite snacks, comforter and a drink for when we need to take a little break.
